Reviews for the following conditions can be booked with our Nurse Practitioner:
Influenza & Pneumonia Vaccine
In accordance with the Department of Health guidelines, we recommend an annual influenza vaccination for patients with diabetes, heart, lung and kidney disease, residents of nursing homes and all patients over the age of 65. Vaccinations are normally available from October, please contact the practice for an appointment. We also recommend that, where appropriate, patients over the age of 65 have a pneumonia vaccination.
At least two months before departure you should make an appointment to see the nurse who will discuss and administer any recommended vaccinations.Certain vaccinations are chargeable so please ask the receptionist when booking the appointment. For urgent travel arrangements you may need to contact a private healthcare centre. More information is available on the above tab.
It is important for women to have regular screening. If you are between 24 years 6 months - 65 years of age and have not had a test within the past 5 years please contact the surgery to make an appointment.
If you need help giving up please make an appointment with one of the nurses or ring the NHS SMOKING HELPLINE ON: 0800 1690169. Website: www.smokefree.nhs.uk
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
